Late in 2004 the Grow Boating Dealer Standards & Quality Committee issued a request for quote associated with a proposed Marine Five Star Dealer Certification program. In January of 2005, RFQ response submissions were received from five companies. Based on the review of the submissions materials and presentations, the Dealer Standards & Quality Committee selected Five Star Solutions, LLC as the program partner.

The team at Five Star Solutions has a very strong and extensive background in the development of solutions that drive client growth and profits. Initially, they designed, developed, trained and implemented the automotive Five Star dealership certification program, which is widely known as the beginning of applying lean process control in retail dealerships in the industry. Today, it is still the longest active running customer focused process improvement initiative in the Automobile industry, and most all other auto companies have their version of Five Star.

In 2005, Five Star Solutions was awarded the Marine Dealership Certification contract based on the standards established. Since its inception Marine Dealership Certification program has consistently performed above all major milestones. Hundreds of dealerships have attended certification workshops and are involved in the certification process which includes being visited by Five Star Solutions..
