Become a Certified Dealer

Certification is a clear and cost-effective way to provide your dealership with a competitive advantage. It has a total dealer cost of $4395.
However as a special incentive to dealers that become certified in 2011, an introductory subsidy of $1500 has been approved by the Grow Boating Initiative. This reduces the final dealer cost to a total of $2895. Manufacturer direct support or co-op funds may also be available and vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Monetary Support Programs
Becoming certified is a 3-step process:
-
Select and attend a Pre-Certification Launch Meeting and participate in the employee satisfaction survey. 2011 Cost: $700
-
Participate in third-party certification process, one on site consultant visitation and criteria/standards review. 2011 Cost $1,700
-
Receive certification and merchandise your dealership with Marine Five Star Certification POS materials. 2011 Cost $495
STEP 1: Participate in a Certification Launch Meeting:
Participation at a Launch Workshop is required as the initial step toward certification. At the Workshop, you will learn the certification requirements, begin process mapping your sales and service procedures and review your employee satisfaction report. Because many of the activities involve teamwork, we suggest that each dealership location have at least two participants in a workshop. The number of attendees that you choose to bring does not affect the workshop fee. Reginal Launch Workshops are one day events that begin at 8:00 AM and conclude no later than 5:00 PM. Webinar Launch Workshops are conducted in two segments over consecutive days allowing greater flexibility.

Only dealerships with both sales and service departments may currently participate in the Marine Five Star Dealer Certification Program. “Satellite” locations may become certified under specific criteria. Please contact the program administrator to review specifics.
A Certified Dealer will have to operate at the minimum standards in the various areas of their dealership. These requirements merely allow a Certified Dealer to meet and satisfy their customers’ needs. These standards are not suggestions or a future goal. All of the following items are required in order to be approved as a Certified Dealer. The better dealers will usually exceed these minimums and, hence, achieve greater success.
